Sridevi and Rekha honoured with ANR National Awards

Sridevi and Rekha have been announced as the recipients of the ANR National Award for the years 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Megastar Chiranjeevi garu presented Akkineni Nageshwara Rao National Award to Sridevi garu and Rekha garu for years 2018 and 2019, respectively at a glittering ceremony held at Annapurna Seven Acres on Sunday.The ANR National Award was instituted by the Akkineni International foundation in the honor of Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The award was given annually to recognize people for their lifetime achievements and contributions to the Indian film industry.

Rekha garu who began her career in tollywood as a child artist with the film Inti Guttu (1958) received ANR National Award for year 2019. Recalling her association with ANR garu Rekha garu said, "ANR told me that we give food to our bodies as it serves physical stamina. But, you should give food to your brain as it serves your soul. My father also told me once that doctors saves lives but actors saves souls". She also expressed her desire to act in Telugu cinema saying "I will again to fulfill my mothers dream to act in Telugu, my mother tongue".


The Award for 2018 announced to Late Sridevi garu was received by her husband Boney Kapoor. 

The chief guest of the evening Chiranjeevi garu shares, "ANR garu is an inspiration to all of us. My mother was an admirer to ANR garu and i look up to him as my guru. I am very glad to have shared screen space with him in Mechanic Alludu (1993). I feel very honoured to present this award to legendary personalities Sridevi and Rekha". 

King Nagarjuna, Industrialist T Subbi Rami Reddy, member of Akkineni Family and few well known Indian Film Industry members also graced this event.
