It is not that easy task to make a BIOPIC on Legendary actress Savitri Garu, but director NAGI has excelled in doing it. Though it is his second movie he made every one awestruck with his brilliant direction and recreating the aura of olden times. Here is our review about Mahanati.

Savitri (Keerthy Suresh), a 14-year-old girl is persuaded by her 'Pedananna' (Rajendra Prasad) who gets her trained in classical dance. Though she had no interest in dance initially, she excels in it later when she was told she couldn't do it and to move her from theatre to cinema.  When they reach Madras, the center of South Indian film industry, Gemini Ganesan (Dulquer Salman), a budding talent at a studio, spots a future star in the young girl.
Savitri starts to emerge herself as a busy actress, her friendship with Ganesan blossoms into love.  Despite having known about his marital status (Ganesan who is already married and has two kids), Savitri goes on to marry him.
Her craze went beyond the boundaries with many great movies in different languages day by day. This is the time when ganesan has some letdowns in Tamil industry. What changes does this make in her life and their relationship? How does savitri overcome those situations? That’s the rest of the story!

The selection of artists for the roles is the main asset of the film. Every artist is well suited for their character and they gave their best performances. Keerthy Suresh as Savitri has excelled in her role this can be stated as career best performance till date. Especially during the scenes that are shot in black and white she is perfect as Savitri. Samantha as usual excelled in her role especially in the climax she left every audience emotional with her brilliant performance. Dulquar Salman as Gemini ganesan delivered an outstanding performance. The remaining actors performed well in their roles. Some special appearances are an advantage. The art director has done a great job in designing the sets it can be seen in each and every frame. A big credit must be given to the director because it is not that easy to make a BIOPIC films. But director NAGI has succeeded in this though he has only one movie experience he excelled in his job.

Mickey J Meyer's background score is brilliant, to put it mildly.  The title track is rousing.  Dani's cinematography deploys a scintillating mix of color palette.
